Yeovil man Liam Congdon has died after sustaining severe injuries in a crash on the A30

Liam, 28, was taken to hospital following the crash but has sadly died from his injuries.

Police were alerted to reports of a crash near Sherborne on Tuesday, February 20. The collision occurred on the A30 at Babylon Hill, near the junction with Marl Lane, at 4.08 pm on Tuesday.

The crash involved Liam’s blue Mini Cooper and a blue Volvo articulated lorry.

Liam was taken by air ambulance to Southmead Hospital in Bristol. His parents, Mark & Lisa, are being supported by specially-trained officers.

Sergeant Geraint Butler of the serious collision investigation team said: “Our thoughts are with the loved ones of the young man who sadly died, and officers are doing all they can to support the family at this challenging time.

“We owe it to them to conduct a detailed investigation to establish the full circumstances of this collision. Again, I urge any witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage of the incident to please come forward.’

Liam Congdon will never be forgotten in Yeovil.

“From our enquiries so far, we believe there were at least two vehicles in the vicinity whose occupants are likely to have witnessed what happened that we have not been able to trace. We would urge these people to please get in touch with us.’

Liam Congdon was the loving son of proud parents of Mark and Lisa, a popular couple from Yeovil, and tributes have poured in since the unfortunate news broke.

Liam was known always to have a consistent smile and was such a loveable lad that everybody he met could never forget. While passing away at such a young age, he will never be forgotten by so many in the town of Yeovil. Whilst friends and family are comforting the popular parents, Lisa & Mark.

A long-term friend told Global247news, ‘ Liam was so loveable. I met him on several social occasions, and he was infectious and funny, such a warm, caring young man.

‘ This tragic accident couldn’t have happened to such a more loving family, and my thoughts are very much with them at this sorrowful time,’
