Yeovil has its own wonder dog who assists the elderly and young children.

Yeovil dog Chip is a special dog who assists the elderly and sick children in Yeovil Hospital.

Chip and his owner can often be found in old-age people’s homes around Yeovil and its surrounding areas and visiting sick children with his unique set of skills.

Chip has been trained as a therapy dog by his owner and brings much relief to the old with arthritis and children with hand injuries especially, whilst enjoying all the attention as he brings happiness to many!

Chip and his trainer/owner work the rounds voluntarily, helping others after being specially trained.

Although Chip the Wonder Dog can also sometimes be found in Tesco supermarket, being adored by children as he strolls the aisles showing off his amazing skills with the occasional show off of his trained skills.

Training a therapy dog is no easy task but his magical owner explains to those who stop how he trains chip from a puppy with an empty can a few stones inside, with the rattling of the stomes, being the instruction.

A Tesco worker told Global247news, ‘ We love Chip, he allowed instore to do his training and being able to mix with people, he’s such a special little chap, you can often find him in the aisles sitting and observing but he’s also a crowd puller, the children as well as adults love him, and he certainly likes to give out the licks.

‘ He’s our own Yeovil wonder dog and the town is so lucky to have him.’ she finished.
