DJ Leigh Brookfield, who urinated on a man with prostate cancer, pleads guilty to assault in court.

Llanelli-based DJ Leigh Brookfield has pleaded guilty at Llanelli magistrates to assault charges.

The charges came after Brookfield had filmed himself aiming his penis and urinating on a pensioner who has prostate cancer.

After the incident, Brookfield, 40, uploaded the video to social media to the disgust of thousands of viewers. Brookfield had apologised for the incident and the subsequent video, which took place at the urinals in Llanelli Tennis and Squash Club. He will now be sentenced at Llanelli Magistrates Court in January.

In a Facebook post, Brookfield said he was “deeply sorry”, adding: “It’s just something me and the boys do when we are drunk, and until watching the video back, I didn’t realise that the nice gentleman next to me was going through health problems.” He later told WalesOnline he was “absolutely paralytically drunk” when the incident happened at around 8 pm in the social club and that he could not “really remember any of it happening”. He added: “My actions were inexcusable. I’ve seen the video, and I’m disgusted with myself. My hand on my heart, I was not aware of what the gentleman was saying to me. I was crying watching what I did.”

Today, Brookfield appeared at Llanelli Magistrates Court, charged with common assault about the incident to which he pleaded guilty.

He will be sentenced on January 19. After confirming they were investigating reports of the incident, a spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police said before his court appearance: “Dyfed-Powys Police has charged 40-year-old Leigh Brookfield, of Dan Y Lan, Llanelli, with common assault about the incident alleged to have taken place at Llanelli Tennis and Squash Club in Llanelli on Boxing Day. He has been remanded into custody and will appear at Llanelli Magistrates Court today.”

Now, residents in South Wales want him imprisoned when he goes for sentencing.

Steven Thomas, 57, from Bargeod, said: ‘ A fine is not good enough in this case; his apology is pathetic; we want him banged up behind bars to learn his lesson; hundreds of my mates all say the same .’
