A gay resident of Yeovil, who didn’t wish to be named, told Global247news he feels it’s down to the lack of gay activity and enthusiasm in the town; he said:
‘ The gay community is tiny in Yeovil, mainly due to West Country mentality, far too many bigots around forcing gay people not to ‘come out’ due to discrimination.
‘ You only have to look around the area to see that, not one gay club or pub.
‘ Being gay in Yeovil forces people to more liberal cities in the UK.
‘ This results in a lack of enthusiasm for Yeovil Pride’, he claimed.
