Breaking News – Tree Falls On Uninsured Man Outside Bideford
Devon and Cornwall police dash to scene to find man scrambling out of car as tree falls on him.
A man known to Global247news as Andrew Waddell has just scrambled out of his courtesy car after becoming trapped by a falling tree in his local village, Beaworthy.
Wadell who became trapped managed though to free himself by climbing out the rear of the stranded car as the central locking jammed after being struck by the falling tree according to eyewitnesses at the scene.
Peter Hucking, told Global247news: ‘ The tree just came crashing down on the car, it happened so fast, I could see a man trapped inside,I went over to help but the doors were jammed’
‘ Luckily we got the rear of the car open and the man was able to scramble out the bar- he appeared in a state of stress and shock and was lucky to still be alive’
‘ He was shaking badly and we had to sit him down on the bank and my wife made him a cup of tea whilst waiting for the police’
Matters turned worse when the police reached the scene though for the driver Waddle as it transpired that he wasn’t insured.
Police are now preparing to seize the car and take it to the police compound.
Eyewitness Hucking said: ‘ He’s having no luck today, firstly the tree falls on him and then discovers his courtesy car supplied by a garage in Swindon is not insured either’
At present the police are not available for comment whilst they attempt to clear the scene and remove the uninsured car.
Meanwhile Waddell told our reporter at the scene: ‘ I don’t think it’s my day today first a tree falls on me and then I find out the courtesy car supplied by the garage is not insured and will be compounded. It was so frightening and not something you are prepared for, I have a very stiff neck and will shortly be going to hospital for treatment and will deal with the garage who failed to insure the car latter’
