Two men have died in separate tragic incidents after being hit by trains within an hour of each other on Scottish tracks yesterday.
A locomotive hit one person near Kilmarnock at around 7.12 pm, and a second was struck near Bishopbriggs at around 7.32 pm.
Emergency crews were scrambled to both scenes, but the men were tragically killed.
Police are not treating either incident as suspicious, and reports will be sent to the procurator fiscal on both deaths.
A British Transport Police spokeswoman confirmed the double tragedy this morning.
She said: “Officers were called to the line near Bishopbriggs at 7.32 pm yesterday (6 January) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
“Paramedics also attended, and sadly a man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the procurator fiscal.”
