The police officer has been convicted of manslaughter after he Tasered and kicked former footballer Dalian Atkinson in the head.
Pc Benjamin Monk, 43, claimed he was in fear for his life when he fired the stun gun at the ex-Premier League star for 33 seconds as he tried to arrest him outside his family home five years ago.
The West Mercia Police officer was cleared of Mr Atkinson’s murder after a trial at Birmingham Crown Court. Still, jurors returned a guilty verdict on the charge of manslaughter after 18 hours and 48 minutes.
In a case that has been likened to the death of George Floyd in the US, Monk was accused of using excessive force when he arrested Mr Atkinson, who played for Aston Villa, Sheffield Wednesday and Ipswich, on August 15 2016.
