TUI caFlight and holiday bookings soar after roadmap plans releasedncels all holidays until mid February

Holiday giants TUI commence cancellations on July holidays

Cancellations for holidays in July have commenced within TUI report travel agents, with August already in doubt.

The following holidays have been cancelled until July 5.

  • Greece – Crete, Kavala, Kefalonia, Mykonos, Preveza, Samos, Santorini, Skiathos, Thessaloniki
  • Spain – Mainland Spain, Formentera, Majorca, Ibiza, Menorca, La Palma
  • Cyprus
  • Croatia
  • Italy
  • Malta
  • Aruba
  • Jamaica

Holidays cancelled until July 11 are:

  • Bulgaria
  • Tunisia
  • Egypt
  • Morocco
  • Mexico
  • Turkey
  • Cape Verde
  • Costa Rica
  • Dominican Republic

Although travel agents have been told to prepare for cancelling all July holidays and August too.

Neil Mitchell, Bristol-based travel agent, confirmed this morning:

“We have been given two lists from upstairs, the official list and the expected list with a side note to expect this trend to continue into August at least.”

The travel agent said the issue for TUI is two-fold; he said after a dormant sales weekend,

“The issue is that the holiday company can’t see any restrictions being lifted both in the shorter and longer-term.

“The other issue is that we have to be honest with our customers, travel agents can’t afford to have clients returning saying’ You said it would be safe to book’ – it is not good for long term business relationships.

“That’s why we have the expected list; every time we’ve had one, it’s been fully correct”, he added.

Mitchell wasn’t aware of the next steps of budget airlines and holiday companies, but he also expects the same.

“They normally follow in suit with TUI, especially Jet2”, he finished.
