An Amazon delivery driver has been arrested after punching a 67-year-old woman.
Amazon driver seen hitting a woman over delayed package row. The argument, which was caught on camera, left the woman with a broken nose after the driver allegedly punched her ten times. The incident occurred at the woman’s home in San Francisco on Thursday when driver Itzel Ramirez, 21, was delivering packages to an apartment complex in Castro Valley.
The woman, who had had notification her parcel was due to be delivered, approached Ramirez asking her if she had it. Ms Ramirez told her to wait while she delivered other parcels. After waiting 15 minutes the woman approached Ramirez outside to ask her again and things got heated between the pair.
The owner of the apartment complex, Doug Smith, told a local news station “I believe the Amazon driver said something about ‘your white privilege’ and my tenant said, ‘You don’t need to be a b**** about it,’ turned around and walked away.”
Footage then shows the Amazon worker attack the woman, who had her back to her. After the incident on Thursday Ramirez was arrested and placed in police custody charged with suspicion of battery causing serious bodily harm and elder abuse.
Sheriff’s Sgt Ray Kelly said “We can’t have our delivery drivers or people out there in the community attacking people, punching people in the face.” Amazon were unavailable for comment after the incident.
