Yeovil Town football club tonight will once again make history
The famous football club Yeovil Town will add more history to its history books, this time down to its supporters.
As reported previously, fans of the football club set about raising funds for the largest ever flag to be displayed at their football club.
After successfully raising £1500 and finding the right flag maker at a discounted price, tonight the flag is set to be on display.
44 supporters are the owner of the flag, which is designed in the memory of former skipper Lee Collins.
Collins sadly took his own life, in recent weeks, devastating the club’s supporters and town folk who knew the player.
The flag fan group, headed by loyal supporter Rodger McCabe plan to cherish and remember their legend at every forthcoming game.
McCabe this morning, speaking to Global247news, said “Tonight the flag will make history as well as honour Lee and all his achievements at our club.
“The flag, as well as others, arrived last week and it will be displayed at tonight’s match for the first time.
“It’s so big I have not unpacked it yet, but I have also got some other large ones that mock it up.
“Although they are nothing compared in size to the ‘big one’.
Rodger went on to describe how it is going to be a bittersweet moment, he said: ” It’s going to be a very proud moment but also at the same time very sad, I’m not sure how the emotions are going to run once the flag in memory of Lee is fully displayed”
Yeovil Town face tonight Solihull Moors in the National League although sadly fans are still restricted from attending.
The club is though in possession of the flag and will have it on display tonight.
