Four teenage boys have been arrested after a double stabbing.
Teenage girls stabbed in Norwood, South London. A 16-year-old girl is fighting for her life in hospital.
The incident happened in West Norwood, South London. Police rushed to the scene in Lambeth late yesterday afternoon.
An ambulance crew along with police found two girls, aged 16 and 17, with stab wounds. An air ambulance was dispatched which landed nearby and the girls were rushed to hospital.
Police have now confirmed that the 16-year-old girl is suffering from “life-threatening injuries”.
It is not known how badly the second girl’s injuries were however they are not thought to be life-threatening. Four boys, all the same age as the girls, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
They remain in police custody. Investigation officers have closed off the scene while they search for clues.
They are also hoping nearby CCTV will aid them in their findings. Central South Command Unit Detective Sergeant Rob Merrett said “This is a shocking incident involving two young female victims, one of whom remains seriously ill in hospital.
It has understandably caused considerable alarm in the community. Officers responded immediately when the 999 call was received. Two boys were quickly apprehended near the scene, and urgent inquiries led to two other males being arrested later on at addresses in Lambeth.
All four are now in custody and my team are conducting a thorough investigation to establish what has led to this unacceptable violence.
I urge anyone who has information, pictures and video that could assist us to make contact immediately.
It is imperative that we work with the community to fully establish what has happened here and bring any offenders to justice.” Police released a statement saying “Police were called at 16:41hrs on Sunday, 25 April to reports of an assault on Norwood Road.
Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended. Two teenage girls, aged 16 and 17, were found suffering from stab injuries. They were taken by LAS to a south London hospital; the first victim’s condition is being treated as life-threatening.
We await an assessment of the second victim’s condition. Officers remain in the area and a crime scene is in place.”
