South Wales Police are at the scene of a collision involving an elderly pedestrian and a bus on Porth Street, Porth, Rhondda near the Police station
A local shopkeeper said “With the horrific incident that’s happened today on Porth Street, we have been asked to close the shop for the rest of the day by the police whilst they undergo their investigation.
“We will be back open tomorrow morning 8 am – 10 pm.
“We hope that the elderly gentlemen is ok.”
The road is currently blocked in both directions and traffic is extremely congested.
Congestion is back to the Library and is causing delays on A4058 as traffic seeks an alternative route.
Motorists are asked to avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible.
An eyewitness at the scene described what they saw and heard:
David Evans said: ” I was walking down the pavement and heard a large thud, as I turned I could see someone trapped under the bus partially – it was an old man, he didn’t look in a good way.
” The police and emergency services were quickly on the scene and we were all moved on,” he told Global247news.
