Downing Street has confirmed that Boris Johnson will not be attending the funeral.
Boris NOT attending Duke’s Funeral. He has decided, due to coronavirus limitations, to stay away and allow family members to attend. Under current restrictions only 30 people can be present at a funeral. Although expected to attend he has stood to one side to make space for others. The funeral takes place at Windsor Castle on 17th April however the palace has asked people to stay away due to the pandemic.
A statement from Downing Street read “As a result of the Coronavirus regulations, only 30 people can attend the funeral of HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. The Prime Minister has throughout wanted to act in accordance with what is best for the royal household, and so to allow for as many family members as possible will not be attending the funeral on Saturday.”
Prince Philip’s children, grandchildren and other family members will be in attendance. A minute’s silence will be held at 3pm across the country.
