After a year in hospital being treated for COVID-19 Derek Draper is finally home.
Kate Garraway’s husband finally home after a year in hospital with COVID. The former political adviser, 53, was put into a coma to help him beat the disease. It was reported that an ambulance bought him home on Wednesday to the family’s house in North London. He will remain on 24-hour-a-day care at home, where Kate has adapted the house to make it more accessible for Derek.
He is, however, not on any breathing apparatus or machines. ITV aired a program last month called “Finding Derek” where it followed Kate’s struggle with their two young children, daughter Darcey, 15, and 11-year-old son Billy. Kate detailed in one scene how doctors had informed her that Derek was the most seriously ill patient that had remained alive.
She said how their marriage would have a “completely different dynamic” on his return home. She has also written a book called “The Power of Hope” detailing his illness. It is said to be a “raw and emotional story”.
