A child has tragically been killed in a Peloton Tread+ treadmill accident.
Tragedy as child dies in Peloton treadmill accident: Although there are no details yet of the location or age of the child. Peloton, the company who produces the Tread+ treadmill, have issued a statement. It reads “There are no words to express the shock and sadness everyone at Peloton feels as a result of this terrible tragedy. Out of respect for the family and their privacy, we won’t be sharing any additional information.”
Safety warnings come as standard with any treadmill. Peloton boss John Foley has sent a message to all customers. The message reads “While we are aware of only a small handful of incidents involving the Tread+ where children have been hurt, each one is devastating to all of us at Peloton. To prevent accidents, please take care to review and follow all the safety warnings and instructions that we provide.”
He reiterated that safety comes first in all their products. He also urged owners to keep children and pets away from the equipment “at all times”. Appeal in the company’s expensive equipment has grown during lockdown as gymnasium’s have been closed. The upmarket range of treadmills have a screen that allows connection to virtual classes around the globe. The Tread+ model starts at £3,084 ($4,295).
