Cyprus will allow British holidaymakers from May if vaccinated

Cyprus have announced Brits who have been vaccinated will be welcome from 1st May.

Cyprus will allow British holidaymakers from May if vaccinated: It’s tourism minister made the announcement on Thursday. Cyprus’s tourism industry benefits the most from British tourists. Income from this plunged by 85% in 2020. This sector represents approximately 13% of the Cypriot economy.

Deputy Tourism Minister Savvas Perdios said “We have informed the British government that from May 1 we will facilitate the arrival of British nationals who have been vaccinated … so they can visit Cyprus without a negative test or needing to quarantine.” He said the stipulation would be that every visitor had the first dose, with the second being administered at least seven days before arrival to Cyprus.

He added that authorities would still reserve the right to carry out random tests on arrivals. Cyprus have seen a relatively mild outbreak of COVID compared to other countries. On Thursday it had recorded 36,004 cases and only 232 deaths. Almost everyone is expected to take a test weekly according to authorities.
