A court has heard that an ex-police sergeant has been accused of raping a woman twice, once while he was on a break from duty.
Woman raped by former police sergeant while he was on a break from work: Derek Seekings, 66, stands accused of the two crimes between 1994 and 2000. The woman remains unamed for legal reasons although it is reported that she has been left “distressed and upset” by the incidents. Seekings, from Farnborough, Hampshire, no longer works as a police officer and he denies both rape charges.
He is accused of raping the woman after taking a break from work for the Surrey police force, who he retired from on 2005. Jurors at Brighton Crown Court were told on Monday by prosecutor Jennifer Gray that “She made it very clear to him she didn’t want to have sex with him, he carried on regardless and he raped her.”
He later returned to work and Gray said it left the woman “very upset and distressed about what had gone on.” The trial continues.
