The incident happened at around 12.30 pm on Tuesday, December 29.

Emergency services, including paramedics, were called to the Milland Road area of Neath where the person was pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “British Transport Police were called to the line near Neath at 12.31 pm this afternoon, Tuesday, December 29, following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

“Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Officers are working to identify the deceased and inform their next of kin.

“This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
