Matt Hancock WILL outline changes to England’s tier system this afternoon, at 3 pm.
The Health Secretary will tell the Commons which areas are set to be plunged into harsher restrictions, with millions of more people set for the highest tier.
Mr. Hancock is expected to tighten restrictions for a number of areas, but resist calls for a full national lockdown, despite more than 53,000 new cases on Tuesday.
Earlier, he told Sky News that ‘further action’ will be taken, explaining: ‘We are facing a very significant challenge in the NHS right now. ‘There has been a significant rise in the number of cases – the highest number of cases recorded yesterday, 53,000 cases.
Whilst advisors and scientists are calling for a National full lockdown in the UK, it appears Hancock will defy this and go with upgrading tiers.
He added on the news show:
‘We are going to have to take further action. ‘I’m going to set that out the House of Commons later today.’
Mr. Hancock will speak to MPs after the Commons’ votes on the Brexit deal.
