Millions of more people across the UK have today been placed under tighter coronavirus restrictions with around 6 million more going into Tier 4 across England.
Northern Ireland and Scotland have also put in place harsher restrictions. Tier 4 restrictions are basically a regional lockdown and below are the places where it will placed:
- Parts of Essex currently not in Tier 4
- Waverley in Surrey
- Hampshire (apart from the New Forest)
Following are the areas being moved into Tier 3:
- Isle of Wight
- The New Forest
Cornwall and Hertfordshire will be moving into Tier 2.
Under England’s toughest Tier 4 restrictions, people are told to stay at home and non-essential shops, bars, and restaurants are closed with people not allowed to meet other households unless they are in a “support bubble”. Many areas of the South and southeast were already placed in Tier 4 before Christmas along with the whole of London. People are being told to “stay home” and to only travel for “essential reasons”.
