Yeovil supermarket Lidl has pulled two of its popular ‘quick bite’ products over fears they could be contaminated.
Some batches of the Red Hen Breaded Chicken Nuggets and Southern Fried Chicken Pops have been recalled over fears they could give people salmonella, which can cause fever, diarrhea, and abdominal cramps.
The Government’s Food Standards Agency, a health and hygiene watchdog, has joined the warning to the public to beware. The specific products being recalled are Red Hen Breaded Chicken Nuggets – pack size: 450g – Best before End February 2022.
A spokesperson for Lidl said in Somerset: ” These are very popular in the area and we are urging all shoppers to check the dates and return as soon as possible”
Yeovil resident Amy Thomas was one of the first to take back her nuggets after hearing about the recall, she said: ” Phew, close call, it could have been a disaster over Christmas but at least the supermarket was very quick to recall, the last thing I needed was sick kids over the festive period, it won’t stop me buying them though in the future – my kids love them”
“The KFC in town is a shocker, probably the worst in the UK, so it will still be Lidl nuggets for us” she finished.
