The number of new coronavirus infections has soared by 35,853 the highest figure ever
Although officials have blamed a previously unreported 11,000 cases.
UK Covid-19 deaths have risen by 532 in the last 24 hours, roughly steady with last Thursday which was 516.
The infection figure includes 11,000 cases from Wales that were previously unreported ‘as a result of system maintenance in the NHS Wales Laboratory Information Management System’, according to Public Health England.
Even without the 11,000 additional infections, the rise of 24,853 is still 3,000 higher than last Thursday.
Infections UK-wide is once again rising nationally and there are increasing fears of a third England lockdown after Christmas, with experts suggesting that the decision to relax laws over the festive period will lead to hospitals being overwhelmed.
