Spain's Costa del Sol Cafes can remain open in the evening as bar owners hit out

IN yet another change of rules Costa del Sol cafes will be allowed to open from 6 pm until 8 pm

Jesús Aguirre, the Junta de Andalucía Minister of Health and Family, announced that cafes in Andalucia will be allowed to stay open from 18.00 to 20.00 hours but they will not be permitted to sell booze during this time ruling out Coffee with Brandy and Irish coffees.

The cafes will now be permitted by the Junta de Andalucia to open from 6 pm until 8 pm, from Friday, December 18. The change has been made after an overwhelming number of complaints about the restrictions had been received.

The problem is considered to be the lack of masks being worn after lunch when alcohol is involved. Due to this, restrictions for other establishments will remain in place, meaning they have to close from 6 pm until 8 pm for the Christmas period.

The ruling has infuriated Costa del Sol bar owners who have hit out at the new regulation, Bar owner Kevin Grimes, said: “Can this get any more pathetic? – as if people wear a mask more if they bloody drinking coffee, of course not!”

In Benalmadena, Joe Wilkins another bar owner said: “How mad is that? – these regulations get madder by the day, I really don’t get the agenda against bars, on another point why can’t we stay open during the two-hour window and just serve coffee?”

” I’ve heard it all now, I really have” he finished.  Global247News Twitter
