Jet 2 Belfast flight has to take diversion to Manchester to offload drunk

A Belfast Jet2 flight bound for Gran Canaria was forced to divert to Manchester following an incident onboard involving a ‘disruptive passenger’.

The LS371 flight from Belfast International to Las Palmas on Sunday afternoon had to instead land temporarily in Manchester after an incident after the plane had taken off.

In a statement to Global247news  a spokesperson for the airline said: “Flight LS371 from Belfast International to Gran Canaria has diverted to Manchester because of disruptive passenger behaviour.

“We apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused, however as a family friendly airline we will not tolerate such behaviour. We will have customers on their way as soon as possible. ”

The flight had been due to arrive in Gran Canaria this afternoon at 14.15 but the estimated time of arrival is now 20.42 tonight.

In an update on their website the airline they added: “Due to an incident on-board involving a disruptive passenger, flight LS371 Belfast to Gran Canaria (Las Palmas) has been diverted to Manchester Airport.

“This is an unscheduled change, so we’re doing everything we can to minimise any disruption to your onward journey. Thanks in advance for your understanding and patience during this time – we’ll have you on your way as quickly as we can.”

A passenger on the flight text the Global247news news desk  and said” He was drunk as a skunk and there was no way he should have been allowed to board the plane in the first place, but thankfully we dropped into Manchester to off load the piss head”

It’s understood the Irish drunk is now in police custody and will be facing diversion costs that will run into several thousands of euros.  Global247News Twitter
