The spin-off series to Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon, is set to star Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke.
Game of Thrones prequel “House of the Dragon” set to star UK actors: The names of the 3 British actors were released in a Tweet from the official Game of Thrones social media site yesterday (Friday). Former Doctor Who Smith will be playing Prince Daemon Targargeyn who is the younger brother of King Viserys Targaryen, played by Paddy Considine. He is described as being a “peerless warrior” who possesses the true dragon blood.
The role again sees Smith playing Royalty after being Prince Philip in The Crown. D’Arcy has been cast as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, who is “the king’s first-born child.” while Cooke will be playing Alicent Hightower, the Hand of the King’s daughter, who is described as “the most comely woman in the Seven Kingdoms.”
The House of the Dragon will follow the dynasty of the Targaryen family who are decended from dragons and the family played a starring role in Game of Thrones. The HBO show is based on George R.R Martin’s Fire and Blood prequel series and is set 300 years before the events of the original series. It is due to air in 2022.
