Budget airline Jet2 have suffered massive cancellations this morning for flights and Christmas holidays to the Canary Islands
After the UK’s government announcement yesterday afternoon that Spain’s Canary Islands were being removed from the safe air corridor list, UK holidaymakers have been cancelling in their droves.
The cancellations are vast, leaving many prepared to fly holiday makers concerned now that their flights will be cancelled altogether.
A Jet2 sales representative told Global247news how the Leeds based airline was inundated with cancellation calls, she said:
“Cancellations are understandably non stop at present – although many are switching to Maderia for Christmas, rather than cancelling all together”
” The regulations for Maderia are unlikely to change anytime now, although bookings are running out quickly for the Portuguese Island”
Meanwhile holidaymaker Jenny Simpson, who amazingly was on her 9th attempt of booking a holiday in 2020, said: ” Here we go – hopefully 10th time lucky, I got through on the phones first thing and was going to cancel, but then the Jet2 lady mentioned Maderia, so I took that for us instead”
Christopher Catton, booked to go to Las Palmas on Sunday, is still going, although is concerned his flight maybe cancelled, he said:”I need a break and still going, I’ll just do the quarantine when back, both myself and my wife are working from home anyway – although we are now dreading the infamous flight cancellation email, we have had three of those this year, but hopefully as it’s only Sunday departure I am hoping we will be ok”
