Only days after monoliths were discovered in the US and Romania a structure has suddenly appeared on the Isle of Wight.
Strange monolith appears on the Isle of Wight: At 7.30am on Sunday morning Tom Dunford, 29, was out dog walking with his sister and fiancee when he spotted the mysterious mirrored column on Compton beach. “We went down the steps and to the right about 100 yards in front us we saw this big reflection of the sun. I knew about all the monolith stories recently. So I recognised it straight away,” he told Sky News.
At this time it is unsure who is responsible for the structure being erected. Within the last 7 days two similar structures have been spotted in the US and one in Romania. The resemblance of these columns are uncannily similar to the one featured in Stanley Kubrick’s film 2001: A Space Odyssey. Mr Dunford said that the one he found was around 10 feet tall and “really reflective”. He went on to say “The person who put it there knows what they’re doing. It’s really reflective. It’s someone playing a practical joke, I don’t believe in any of these conspiracy theories.”
As news broke among islanders about the strange structure more and more people turned up to see it with Mr Dunford saying. “When we came back around half an hour later there were more dog walkers crowding around it – probably about a dozen. There’s been quite a few people flocking down to see it today. It’s something a bit different and interesting to happen at this time of year.” An anonymous collective called The Most Famous Artist has taken credit for the Utah structure. And also the one in California. It remains to be seen if they hold their hands up to this one on the Isle of Wight.
