After a fire caused significant damage to a historic church in the village of Mackworth, Derbyshire on Thursday afternoon. A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of arson.
Huge blaze at Derbyshire church: The blaze ripped through All Saints Church causing widespread damage. Emergency crews were called to tackle the blaze, including 6 fire engines, 2 aerial ladder platforms. And a water carrier and remained at the scene throughout the night to bring the fire under control. The church was originally built in the 14th century and was made Grade I listed. Meaning it is of significant interest. Derbyshire police said that the teenager is from the Derby area and went on to say. “At this time there is no evidence to link this incident to any of the other incidents in the city. However, we are of course keeping an open mind.”
The building has suffered from major structural damage caused by the fire according to Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service (DFRS). With the area manager, Clive Stanbrook, saying. “Our thoughts this evening go out to the community and congregation of All Saints Church who will no doubt be devastated by this tragic fire.”
