A 13-year-old boy is fighting for his life in hospital. After sustaining a fractured skull and bleeding on the brain during an attack where he was struck across the head with a metal pole.
Teenager fighting for life after attack near his school in South London: He was attacked by a 35-year-old man outside Dunraven School in Leigham Court Road, Streatham at 3.30pm on Wednesday. Police had been called to the school by reports of a man wielding a large metal pole and attacking people with it.
The boys family are at his bedside and his condition is said by police to be life-threatening. Many other pupils and a teacher received minor injuries from the man who attacked them. The man, who was treated himself for minor injuries after being tackled by a police officer, was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.
Lambeth Police wrote on Twitter that “A 13 yo boy was found with a head injury. He was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital. The boy’s condition has been assessed as life-threatening.”
