Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay is due to open his new restaurant in Harrods on the 4th December. Just two days after the national lockdown is lifted and will be charging £80 for a burger.
80 quid burger at Ramsey’s new gaff!: However this is not just any old burger. For the £80 price tag you get a wagyu burger comprising of a beef patty with seared wagyu sirloin, truffle Pecorino cheese. Cep mayonnaise, and additional black truffle. You may need to be quite rich however to dine at the new restaurant. With other items on the menu including a lobster and shrimp burger for £42. Hotdogs costing £21 and an order of chips for £6.
Ramsay already has a Gordon Ramsay Burger restaurant located at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. And this one in Harrods is a new addition to his portfolio. The restaurant description on it’s website reads “Gordon Ramsay Burger at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, focuses on traditional burgers, fries and milkshakes. With an extra special touch!.
The gourmet beef patties are cooked over an open flame using prime cuts of meat. The milkshakes combine traditional shake ingredients with creamy pudding. For an indulgent dessert experience. And the drinks menu features an extensive selection of cocktails as well as craft and bottled beers.”
Prices at the Las Vegas restaurant are lower than the London site. With the most expensive burger priced at just $25.99 (£19).
Ramsay discussed the opening of the new London restaurant, saying. “I’m really excited to announce, I’m bringing the Gordon Ramsay Burger to Harrods in Knightsbridge for the first time ever.
Trust me, this is going to be a burger experience like no other. As we’ve really elevated our patties using the most incredible mix of the UK’s best cuts of meat.” Although Ramsay is sure that it will be a success people have taken to Twitter to complain about the high prices. Calling them “ridiculous” and “absurd”. It is not the first time Ramsay has come under fire for his prices either.
In October, the 54-year-old chef was mocked online for selling fish and chips for £18.50 at his namesake restaurant in London House with one person Tweeting
“Gordon Ramsay’s £18.50 take away fish and chips: I’ve seen more chips in a seagull’s mouth” regarding the size of the portions. Another added “Rather go to my local chippy for that much can feed the whole family and still have few quid spare.”
