MasterChef Junior star Ben Watkins has sadly passed away from cancer at the age of 14.
MasterChef Junior star passes away at 14: He had appeared on season six of the US cooking based program. And became an overnight star when he was just 11-years-old. Gordon Ramsay, a judge on the program, took to his Twitter account to say. “We lost a Master of the @MasterChefJrFOX kitchen today. Ben you were an incredibly talented home cook and even stronger young man. Your young life had so many tough turns but you always persevered. Sending all the love to Ben Watkins’ family with this terrible loss Gx.”
Teenager Watkins passed away on Monday after battling with angiomatoid fibrous histiocytoma. A rare form of cancer found in children and young adults. He received the diagnosis just after his 13th birthday. His grandmother and uncle became his guardians in September 2017 after he lost both his parents in a murder-suicide.
His family said in a statement that. “Our Ben went home to be with his mother this afternoon after a year-and-a-half-long battle with cancer. After losing both of his parents in September 2017. We have marveled at Ben’s strength, courage and love for life. He never, ever complained. Ben was and will always be the strongest person we know. Ben suffered more than his share in his fourteen years on this Earth. But we take solace in that his suffering is finally over and in that, in the end, Ben knew he was loved by so many.”
Antony Edwards, the boys uncle, said “Ben was just so selfless. It was unreal, the character he had.” Watkins finished the show in the top 18 and had begun cooking at the age of 3. Helping out at his parents restaurant, Big Ben’s Bodacious Barbecue, Bakery, and Deli. Which was named after him.
