After coming out to the public earlier this year on national television, Philip Schofield has said that his family are a “work in progress”.
Schofield, who has two daughters, Molly, 27 and Ruby, 24 with wife Stephanie was talking yesterday (Saturday) on a Radio 5 Live show presented by Scott Mills and Chris Stark.
He told the presenters that “We love each other massively. We are a loving family, that hasn’t changed…it’s us four but different.
We are a work in progress. I’ve been very honest about all of this and there’s no question that we have to pick our way through this daily as a family.
And that’s what we are doing. We’ve just got to make our way through very unusual and unexpected waters.”
When asked the question on how he was holding up personally he said that he is ok and that he is still working on coming to terms with his new way of life and himself as a different person. He stated in his autobiography, Life’s What You Make It, that he had not known he was gay when he married Stephanie in 1993 and had he have known he would never have got married. He said that in the darkest of times Stephanie was always there to remind him that he was loved, both by her and their daughters. Although he came out in an Instagram post (now deleted) and on national television while hosting This Morning, he had previously spoken to his wife and children about it.
