Driver so drunk he didn’t notice a tyre missing

Officers from South Yorkshire Police who arrested a driver in Rotherham, South Yorkshire on Saturday night were astonished to find that he had not noticed that he had lost a front tyre because he was so drunk.

The took to social media site Twitter to share the details of the arrest, saying “Specials from Rotherham found this Peugeot tonight and arrested its driver for an expired license, no insurance, leaving an RTC [road traffic collision], not showing up to court and last but by no means least, for driving whilst so incredibly drunk he failed to realise he was missing a tyre.”

The penalties for drink driving include potential prison sentences, a driving ban and fines. Causing death by careless driving when under the influence of drink carries possible sentences of up to 14 years’ imprisonment, an unlimited fine, a driving ban, and an extended driving test before you can get your licence back.
