Explosion in east London - Police and fire services rush to scene near Westfield shopping centre

An explosion has happened in Stratford, east London causing the London Fire Brigade (LFB) to rush to the scene.

Emergency services are dealing with the aftermath at a residential property on Waddington Road.

Officers from the Met Police are also at the scene.

The explosion happened on this Sunday November 1st near the Westfield shopping centre.

Nearby road closures are also currently in place.

Newham Police said on Twitter there are no reported injuries.

The force tweeted: “Officers are assisting @LondonFire at the scene of an explosion at a residential property in Waddington Road, #E15. Police were called at 07:54hrs today. No reported injuries.

“Road closures are in place and several nearby homes have been evacuated. Enquiries are ongoing.”

London Fire Brigade confirmed it was called to the property at 7.51am.

The Fire Investigation Unit are at the scene trying to establish the cause of the explosion.

One person is being treated for shock, but there are no reports of any other injuries.
