Health official dressed as a clown to read coronavirus death statistics

During Oregon’s coronavirus status announcement one of the state’s leading health officials was dressed as a clown as she read the bulletin. In the sombre footage Dr Claire Poche, a senior advisor for the Oregon State Health Authority was seen with red and white face makeup, a red tie and polka dot top.

She made the announcements on the recorded cases and deaths so far for the state while keeping a straight face.

She said “As of today, there have been 38,160 cases of Covid-19 in Oregon, with 390 new cases being reported today” then goes on to talk about the death toll so far saying “Sadly, we are also reporting three deaths today, bringing the statewide total for Covid-19-related deaths to 608.”

Before people think that this was planned in any way, she was actually dressed like a clown to talk about staying safe during Halloween.

She urged people to social distance and wear masks so that these videos are not repeated too often. The video aired on 14th October and immediately went viral on Twitter with 7,800 views and 3,300 re-Tweets. Mostly were unhappy about the doctors appearance during such a gloomy broadcast. One Tweeter said “Federal Covid response: metaphorical clown show. Oregon Covid response: literal clown show.”
