The free Christmas dinner campaign in Spain’s Fuengirola on the Costa del Sol reaches €220 in 48 hours
Campaigners, Lauren & Gary Adamson, revealed to Global247news this morning that their campaign has already raised €220 in 48 hours from caring people in or associated with Fuengirola.
For those in the area who aren’t aware of the campaign – here is the plea from Lauren & Gary, who don’t wish anyone to miss out on a traditional Christmas dinner this year:
“As Christmas approaches our thoughts turn to the festive season. Due to the Covid 19 Pandemic for many people and families in and around Fuengirola, this Christmas could be a struggle and no fault of their own!
Myself, Gary Adamson and my Daughter Lauren believe that no one and no family should go without a Christmas Dinner, no matter what their Nationality is!
So in conjunction with Sams Bar, Los Boliches between 1 pm and 3 pm on Christmas Day, we will be giving away FREE takeaway Christmas Dinners for anyone and any family in the Fuengirola area who finds themselves stressing or struggling financially due to the Covid 19 Pandemic. Nobody should go without, especially on Christmas Day! And for those who have children, please tell us before and we will have a little gift for them too!
Please send us a private message to @barsabroad on Facebook, Whatsapp 0034 722507300 or email email@example.com in total CONFIDENCE stating how many dinners you would like. Then on Christmas Day make your way to Sams Bar on the frontline in Los Boliches to collect it between 1 pm and 3 pm to take back to your home.
To all business owners who are currently operating, if you would like to donate and help us, please contact me ASAP. It could be a sack of spuds, a bag of Brussels sprouts or maybe just 5€ towards the groceries. Anything will help tremendously!
Covid 19 has caused so much devastation and heartache for so many people, our families, friends, colleagues, neighbours to name but a few. Bars Abroad will be doing our little bit to help on Christmas Day so please for anyone who would welcome a Christmas Dinner, or maybe you know someone then please tell them to contact us in total confidence. No child and no person should miss out on a Christmas Dinner… in Fuengirola, no one will this year!”
Gary over coffee with Global247news this morning revealed how shocked he was at the amount raised so quickly in 48 hours, he said: ” It’s amazing, especially when things are so tight financially for the majority at this unprecedented time,
“Fuengirola is clearly such a caring community even during tough times” he further added.
“We only launched what 48 hours ago – but thanks to the exposure from you, Global247news, we are on our way to our target – there’s still along way to pull this off but we will with all the local support we are receiving ”
Gary then asked, could he do a ‘Bob Geldof ‘ especially as local bar owner Mark Sutherland from the Luna bar had nicknamed him that.
” Give us your money” he laughed but seriously he said ” This is very important to my daughter Lauren and myself and we don’t want to see anyone having to go without, so if you can please assist us reach our target we would be very grateful indeed”

Furthermore during last nights popular quiz at the Luna Bar on the seafront in Torreblanca, owner Mark Sutherland further added to the appeal – he said for every euro raised, he will further add two carrots and an extra spud.
Mark, who runs the very popular Luna bar with his wife Barbara told Global247news during a break from the packed quiz, ” I can’t commend Gary, Lauren, Debbie and you guys from Global for the efforts you are putting into this great cause, you really are the ‘peoples news station around here – I take my hat off to you all”
” I’m doing my wee little bit and I urge others to do the same” he appealed, whilst wife Barbara said: ” People like Gary, Lauren and Debbie giving up their Christmas Eve & Day for others, gives me goose pimples and warms my heart”
