Rapid response to the Fuengirola  free Christmas dinner campaign

Lauren & Gary Adamson spoke to Global247news yesterday as the launched their Free Christmas dinner campaign in Fuengirola on the Costa del Sol.

If you haven’t read about the campaign yet, all the details are here

Lauren and Gary are even more excited about their campaign more than ever after it got off to a rapid start with €85 raised in the first couple of hours as well as plenty of texts and messages from bar and restaurant owners offering free supplies.

As well as suppliers and donations, coming in quickly, the uptake of the very kind offer for many wishing a Christmas dinner, has also seen a good starting response.

Juan Gomez, a Spanish national, who sleeps every night in a tent on the sea front told Global247news this morning:

“What a wonderful pair offering such a kind gesture, Christmas Day for me normally is just another day, sitting on the bench but this year I’m delighted to be getting a Christmas dinner, a few years ago I lived in London and that was the last time I had a traditional Christmas dinner, it was wonderful and I really look forward to having one this year”

“I lost everything after my wife died, I gave up on life if I’m honest, although I am starting to get back on my feet slowly but it’s a hard road back and this gesture means everything to me, when I see Gary, I want to shake his hand” he commented

“I’m going to spread the message to my friends today” he said.

Global247news caught up with both Gary & Lauren Adamson this morning at Sam’s Bar  for an update.

Lauren said: ” People have been so kind so quickly, whilst we have people taking up our offer already which is fantastic, donations have started off well too, we are so excited now but this is just the start”

Meanwhile Dad Gary said: ” It’s nice to be nice”

” I can’t thank all those that have donated so far enough, it was pleasing to see such caring people coming forward but we still have a way to go yet, so if you can help, however small, please do” he continued.

” I can’t do this without the help of others, but thankfully Lauren and myself are already not on our own” he further added.

” I did sneak out last night for a couple of beers after the organising yesterday, kind people kept coming up to me to order and say thank you – it was very pleasing, although I have taken a little bit of banter off the lads in the bar, the landlord who we have nicknamed Amos, after Amos Brearley off Emmerdale, is now calling me Bob, but I did nail him for a large bag of spuds in return” he laughed.
