Charitable local businessman Gary Adamson takes advice from Daughter and thinks of others this Christmas
Gary Adamson, Managing Director of Bars Abroad in Fuengirola, last weekend turned to his beloved daughter Lauren to ask what she and her young son Lenny wanted to do for Christmas.
The reply was “Let’s do something different Dad” and Lauren came up with a charitable idea, that soon turned into reality.
Charming Lauren’s idea was to give up Christmas Day and cook for others offering free takeaway Christmas dinners for those who need them during these tough times.
Gary himself thought it was a great idea, although unsure how to pull it off – questions of many entered his head such as where could he cook them all and what assistance would he get?
Firstly Father and daughter Lauren, the brainchild behind the charitable scheme, turned to Sam’s Bar on the seafront in Fuengirola and asked to borrow a kitchen for Christmas Eve and Day – the resounding answer from the owners was yes!
With a kitchen secured, now he needed assistance as he can’t cook himself, albeit daughter Lauren is a dab hand, but she couldn’t manage it on her own.
Lauren contacted her mother, Jayne who was only pleased to assist, whilst Gary spoke to his long standing businesswoman friend Debbie Rodber, who is used to making mass meals after her years of experience in care homes for the underprivileged.
Whilst Debbie, who normally wines and dines at the Sunset Beach on Christmas Day in Benalmadena with her partner Steve, and their close friends entertainer Ricky Lavazza and family – she was straight on the phone to her partner Steve, to announce it was cancelled and to inform him he would be washing pots instead at Sam’s.
Debbie thought Lauren’s plan was exceptional and so heart warming that she had to assist.
Today Gary himself posted his and Lauren’s intentions and offer for a FREE Christmas dinner onto his business social media channels, as well as the new Facebook page ‘ Caring at Christmas’ he posted:
“Caring at Christmas In Fuengirola
Global247news caught up with Gary this evening for a personal interview, he said:
“It was all my daughters Loren idea, I simply asked where and what did Lenny and her want to do for Christmas – she pointed out whilst times are tough for all businesses and people right now, there were worse people of than us, and she’s right, so I thought, yes, lets help out and do what we can, it’s only one day after all but it’s the season of goodwill and that is what Christmas is all about” he said.
“I didn’t know at first if we could pull it off, but Sam’s Bar jumped at the chance and then Debbie too through in her vast experience of cooking for many and we were away!” he said.
“So it’s Xmas for everybody in Fuengirola for everyone” he cheered.
Mark Sutherland just a few doors down in the Luna Bar, commented: “Laren & Debbie are such delightful thoughtful young ladies, It’s fantastic that they and Gary will give up their Christmas thinking of others and ensuring everybody obtains a Christmas dinner, I hope everybody supports this campaign in the community” he said
Whilst helper Debbie Said: ” Once Gary told me his idea, I was in, how could I go out having a lavish Christmas dinner, whilst others were missing out, to be honest it will make a change from my partner drinking too much and dancing when he can’t – he’s on pot washing this year” she laughed
Lauren and Gary Adamson have now set up a funding assistance page for anybody who can contribute to their worthy mission.
