Fugitive Jason Curry caught on Spain’s Costa Del Sol whilst committing a violent robbery in Spain
A fugitive who has been on the run for three years since a teenager was shot dead in the city has been arrested over a ‘violent robbery’ in Spain.
Detectives are hunting for the killer of 18-year-old Yusuf Sonko who was shot once in the head behind Lodge Lane shops in Toxteth at the start of June, 2017.
Four weeks after the murder, police appealed for help to track down Jason Curry, who they were keen to speak to about the murder.
Global247news can now confirm Curry, aged in his mid 20s, has been apprehended on the Costa Del Sol, in recent days.
It is understood the Liverpool man was detained in connection with a violent robbery in the Mijas region.
The Spanish Guardia Civil is leading the investigation, and communication has taken place between them and detectives on Merseyside.
Merseyside Police have previously appealed for information regarding the whereabouts of Jason Curry who the force said they believe has “vital information in relation to the murder of Yusuf Sonko”.
Global247news understands the investigation and prosecution in Spain will take prominence before detectives in Liverpool could interview him about the killing on Tagus Street, at 8.30pm on Friday, June 2, 2017.
