A man has been jailed after losing his temper and subjecting his girlfriend to a 6 hour attack. Which left her bruised on nearly every part of her body.
Man jailed after 6 hour prolonged attack: The attack took place in her own home while she was looking after her children. Leeds Crown Court heard how Nathan Riding-Brown, 30, had attacked his girlfriend with the handle of a cooker door. As well as strangling and biting his victim.
Meanwhile, the court was told that the couple had an on-off relationship and that the first attack took place in March 2019. When she had tried to finish with Riding-Brown. The prosecution told the court that he would take her phone and handbag and order her not to leave the house. Ashleigh Metcalfe, prosecuting, said “this was gratuitous degradation of the victim”.
After pushing her repeatedly against the cooker, the handle broke free. And he used it to hit his victim time after time for a sustained period, leaving her covered in bruises. She had pleaded with him to stop and had even tried to escape from the house with her two children.
At one point he had his hand around her throat and Metcalfe said. “She was struggling to breathe and was close to passing out a number of times.”
Also, he only let her leave the house the next day to take her children to school. Riding-Brown was jailed for 23 months after appearing in court on Wednesday. He had pleaded guilty to assault and common assault. In a statement to the court the victim said. “I was so scared that he would kill me and I honestly thought that he would.”
Later, recorder Tahir Khan QC said during sentencing that “Over the course of about six hours you repeatedly used unlawful violence. And she thought you were going to kill her.
Subsequently, she suffered bruises to almost every part of her body. And I have no hesitation in concluding that this was a serious and sustained attack you carried out over a protracted period.”
