Two Muslim women were stabbed in a racial attack under the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
Police arrested two white women who reportedly shouted ‘dirty Arabs!’ before attacking the Muslim women on Sunday 18 October. Police only confirmed that attack on Tuesday.
A statement from Paris Police read: ‘On October 18, at around 8pm, the police intervened following an emergency call from two women wounded by knives on the Champs-de-Mars.’
City prosecutors say the attackers are being held on suspicion of attempted murder.
The two victims have been identified simply as Kenza, 49, and Amel, with both an Algerian background. Reports show that Kenza was stabbed six times and suffered a punctured lung. Amel received surgery on her hands.
The attack comes after a teacher was recently beheaded in Paris suburbs last Friday by a radicalised terrorist – who was infuriated at children being shown images oh Muhammed.
The Muslim community in France have been claiming a rise in Islamaphobia after a government crackdown on Mosques and Muslim organisations.
