The smallest house in the UK has been put up for sale for a meagre £250,000.

Smallest detached house in the UK: The cleverly designed one-bedroomed detached gate lodge, is one of a pair that stand either side of the gates at Grimston Park. The Grade II listed Georgian manor house is in North Yorkshire. It is just 10ft by 8ft in size and is rumoured to be the smallest detached property in the whole of the country.

The tiny property, built from limestone blocks, is arranged over two floors. And contains some beautiful architectural details which include a stepped roof with kneeling figure of a warrior atop. On the ground floor there is a mezzanine bedroom and dressing area. However, the majority of the accommodation resides on the lower ground floor. Also there is a cosy yet bright living room leading into the kitchen with doors that lead out to a sunken patio area.

Additionally, on the other side of the property a bathroom has been constructed in the original cellar. Plus, on the outside there is a good sized lawn area with mature shrubs and a small wall with cast iron railings. There are fabulous views of the old manor house. Also the sweeping grounds from the property and Tadcaster can be viewed in the distance.

Finally, the house is situated just half a mile from the A162. Providing easy access to Tadcaster and the A64 trunk road from Leeds to Scarborough. In the meantime, Sunset Lodge is being sold through Carter Jonas estate agents.
