A FULL year group has been put into isolation following a confirmed case of coronavirus at a primary school on the Lizard Peninsula.
Cornwall Council has said it is working with other authorities to support staff, parents and children at Mullion Primary School after a positive Covid-19 test result at the school involving year six.
A council spokesperson said: “A group of 24 children have been told to isolate, along with two members of staff, as a precaution and in line with the latest government guidance.
“Cornwall Council’s public health team will continue to work closely with the school to ensure appropriate action is taken.”
The spokesperson further said: “The school is also being supported by the Department for Education and and local NHS colleagues workers”
Rachel Wigglesworth, interim director of public health for Cornwall Council, said: “Mullion Primary School have acted quickly in response to the confirmed case and we are working with them to provide advice and guidance in line with our local outbreak management plan.”
It is not the first primary school in the county to have seen a confirmed case of Covid-19 in the past week.
Last week a primary school in Truro announced it was closing for a deep virus clean up after three positive cases.
