A 5-year-old boy has found the body of his dead mum at home after she had said that she felt ‘broken’ by the coronavirus lockdown.
Toddler finds his mum dead at their home: Little Archie found her in the living room at their home in Kettering on 28th September. She was unresponsive. According to her sibling David, Katie has shut herself away from the world. After her brother, Barry Gunn, had killed himself in 2015.
Police have said that they are not treating her death as suspicious. And a coroner’s report will now be prepared. David, 40, told a local radio station that he thinks COVID broke Katie if he was honest. He went on to say “She couldn’t get to visit my mum. Because she’s got breathing difficulties so couldn’t leave the house to visit. My dad was diagnosed with bowel cancer. He’s now got a tumor so can’t travel. So lockdown has basically broke us all.”
He said that he felt a terrible failure upon hearing of his sisters death. Barry, the elder brother, had been suffering from PTSD after serving with the army in Sierra Leone. And took his own life aged 40. David said that he has now set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for Katie’s funeral and a trust fund for Archie.
He said that Archie will need all he support he can get from family and friends.
