The Cornwall Police Service was investigating after human remains were discovered on Saturday morning in the north end of that eastern Ontario city.
The Police said in a media release that they received a call shortly before noon Saturday about a body that had been discovered in a wooded area north of Tollgate Road, between Brookdale Avenue and Pitt Street.
The individual had not been identified as of Saturday. The investigation was being conducted by the Cornwall Police Service Criminal Investigation Division, the Forensic Identification Unit and the Regional Coroner’s Office.
The police service also said it had confirmed there was no further threat to public safety.
Although they are requesting anyone who knows of a missing person locally to come forward as it may assist enquiries and identification.
