Football fans all over the world pay tribute to Birmingham fan Tommy Plant
Young Birmingham City fan Tommy Plant sadly passed away on Friday, October 2, it has been confirmed.
Paying tribute on its Facebook page on Saturday morning, a spokesperson for Birmingham City wrote: “We are devastated to learn of the passing of one of our own, Tommy Plant.
“All of our thoughts are with his family at this incredibly difficult time. May you rest in peace, Tommy.”
Tommy had become famous amongst football fans across the globe after hearing how his father saved his life just a year before when he collapsed at home.
The then seven-year-old had collapsed and his heart stopped as his condition worsened. When medics arrived, they found dad Jason doing CPR in a bid to restart his son’s heart.
Unfortunately, little Tommy fell ill again last Sunday before passing away on Friday.
Cardiff City fan Gareth Hughes who also has a son called Tommy: ” We read about the story at the time in the Ninian Stand and all City fans were very proud of Tommy Plant and his and his father’s achievements, he was a right little fighter, all Cardiff fans send their condolences to the family”
In London, West Ham supporter Dave Watkins paid his respect as he heard the news “Football fans are one big family, we all heard about Tommy last year, it’s very sad the football family has lost one so young, god bless you Tommy you were a great fan!”
Jamie Hughes a Sunderland fan said: We first heard about Tommy last year on the away bus, what a little character he looked, as soon as we can get back on the bus we will toast you Tommy, remember the lord takes the best early”
