A hotel manager from Solihull has received a £10,000 fine from the police. After holding a wake that was attended by over 200 people.
Hotel receives hefty fine: The manager, from Castle Bromwich Hall, has also been stopped from holding events at the hotel until next year. The funeral party took place on the 25th September. And police were called after numerous people telephoned to complain about the noise at around 9pm on that day. The manager remains unnamed.
West Midlands Police released a statement saying .“Our officers attended and found more than 200 people in attendance. Who were all then dispersed at 9pm. We then spoke to staff at the hotel in a bid to contact the owner or event organiser.”
They said that this incident was one of many in a long line that the Solihull hotel has held recently that breach the COVID-19 rules. Having been warned on previous occasions, the manager continued to flout the rules. And carried on holding events that saw no social distancing, no sanitizing or table service.
Later, an immediate licensing review was filed by police with the local borough council asking to suspend the hotel owners license. Pending a thorough investigation. Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council’s licensing panel granted the review on Monday. And a hearing is due to take place later this month.
