The Met Office have issued amber weather warnings for parts of Britain with heavy rain expected to hit South West England, Wales, North West England and the Midlands from midday today until 6am tomorrow (Sunday).
UK Weather: More heavy rainfall expected across the country: They have said that many places will see between 25 and 50mm of rain but on higher ground in South West England and Wales this figure could rise to 90mm. Parts of Snowdonia and exposed areas should expected the figure to be as high as 120mm.
The Met Office warning said that businesses and homes are likely to be flooded and with fast flowing and deep floodwater there could be ‘danger to life’. A second amber warning covers various areas in Scotland from 6pm Saturday until 6am Sunday and again the warning of ‘danger to life’ is in place. These warnings come after Storm Alex arrived yesterday from Europe, battering parts of the country. A spokeswoman for the Met Office, Nicola Maxey, said “A second rain front is coming to replace Storm Alex over the weekend, pushing in from the east on Saturday morning and affecting western areas later on.
The rain is slowly pushing north but it will be relieved as it goes. On Saturday, most of the country will be affected by rain, and it’s looking heaviest in the centre, down the spine of the country from Aberdeen to Bristol.”
