Donald Trump and wife Melania both test positive for COVID-19

US President Donald Trump announces this morning that both he and his wife, First Lady Melania Trump, have tested positive for coronavirus.

Donald Trump and wife Melania both test positive for COVID-19: He wrote on his Twitter account “Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!”

He had said a couple of hours earlier that they were both waiting on test results. It could be possible that they caught the infection from senior White House aide Hope Hicks. Who they had traveled with on Air Force One recently, as he has been diagnosed with the virus.

The White House did not respond quickly after being asked for comments on who else in the President’s inner circle could have possibly been infected. As of this morning (Friday) 207,789 Americans have died from the deadly virus. With the Presidential election just 32 days away, Trump’s positive test result could have dire consequences for his hopes of getting back in power. And, at 74 years of age, he is in the increased risk group from serious complications.

Sean Conley, Trump’s private doctor, said in a statement that both the President and his wife are feeling well at the moment. And will be self-isolating in the White House. Only three world leaders are known to have tested positive for COVID-19. Trump, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro. All of whom initially underestimated the threat of the virus.
