A woman has been found alive floating off the coast of Colombia by fishermen who pulled her from the water.
Woman discovered alive floating off Colombian coast: Her daughter said to reporters that she had not seen her mother for 2 years and didn’t know her location. Angelica Gaitan, 46, was discovered unconscious and suffering from hypothermia.
She was spotted by fisherman Rolando Visbal floating around a mile from the town of Puerto in the early hours of Saturday morning. Dramatic video footage shows Mr Visbal and his friend pulling her on board their boat and giving her water.
Her first words when she regained consciousness were “God did not want me to die. I was born again”. It is believed that she was floating for 8 hours in the sea before she was discovered. It is also unclear how she had managed to survive for the last 2 years. Although she did tell reporters that she had fled her relationship as it became abusive. But family members deny this.
Her daughters are now raising money to get Ms Gaitan back to Bogota where they live, which is 1500 miles from where she was found, to care for her.
